Chillum Trio started out as a collective of like minded musicians in 2002, however, after releasing an album together (which was supported by the likes of Laurent Garnier) the project slowly became the solo act of founding recording producer, Geza Szekeres. At that time he discovered West-African music, latin jazz and the universe of soul and funk, these new directions have been shaping his musical evolution eversince. In 2014 he turned out as one of the winners of Gilles Peterson’s Havana Cultura remix contest that gave him the opportunity to travel to Havana and record music with the creme of the Cuban jazz scene. One of his songs recorded in this session got released on Brownswood Recordings compilations Havana Cultura Mix and Havana Cultura Anthology. Budabeats Records is more than proud to release Chillum Trio’s first ever 12” single called Cosmotropica with two dancefloor friendly tracks mixing broken afro-house with tropical and cosmic influences.

Eyes Closed Ears Open feat. Annamaria Ligosztajeva (8:34’): After a smooth, moody lift-off, fasten your seat belts ladies and gents! Our starship hits light-speed with pulsating analogue rhythms to the space kitchen, where warm vocals and heavy disco breaks are what's cooking.

Palmdrop (11:22’): As rainfall stops in the tropical forest, uplifting afro grooves dry the ground. Creatures of the jungle dance to the deep tribal percussion, as trippy synth sounds and subtly hypnotic beats deliver transcendental joy.

A Chillum Trio 2002 óta aktív zenei kollektíva, az eredeti trió fellálás azonban egy közös album után – melyről két számot Laurent Garnier kiadója is megjelentettett – fokozatosan Szekeres Géza ötletgazda producer szólóprojektjévé alakult. A Frankhegy, Sziget és egyéb illegál bulikon történő fellépések után a stúdiómunka felé tolódott a hangsúly, illetve a zenei irány is megváltozott: Géza ebben az időszakban fordult a nyugat-afrikai, a latin-jazz és a funk/soul zenék felé, mely hatások a mai napig meghatározzák a Chillum Trio hangzását. 2013-ban vérfrissítés gyanánt beiratkozott az imPro Budapest elektronikus zenei produceri képzésére, amit nem csak hogy elvégzett, de mára az iskola egyik vezető oktatójává lépett elő.
2014-ben megnyerte a legendás londoni rádiós dj és kiadótulajdonos, az elektronikus zene egyik globálisan is meghatározó alakja, Gilles Peterson által meghirdetett Havana Cultura remix-versenyt, melynek kapcsán lehetőséget kapott, hogy Peterson és Dj Simbad mentorálásával, a kubai kortárs jazz és könnyűzenei élet krémjével együttműködve saját felvételeket rögzítsen Havannában. Az így készült számok közül egy meg is jelent a londoni Brownswood Recordings Havana Cultura Mix és Havana Cultura Anthology című kiadványain.
Géza és a Budabeats közötti több éves barátság eredményeként 2017 decemberében jelenik meg a Chillum Trio első önálló 12”-es vinyl kiadványa két DJ-barát “tropical broken house” felvétellel, 500 számozott példányban limitálva.
